Now that you mention it, there was no quintessential scene of Spidey just swinging across the New York skyline. It was mostly running through neighborhoods and short buildings. The tallest building was the Washington Monument, and it didn't truly feature swinging. The few scenes he did have of him swinging had him absolutely fail it lol. It's weird he seems depowered from Civil War. Hell, I just rewatched his Civil War fight scenes and he was waaaay more capable there in terms of swinging and fighting. This is the same guy who effortlessly beat the hell out of both Falcon and Winter Soldier and swung circles around Giant Man. I like the fact that they are trying to develop his skills over time, but it's too much of a departure from his Civil War showing. This movie is going to absolutely decimate him in the vs forum lol.
I still loved it of course. It got characterization right for the most part (with the exception of NuFlash who never grew on me, and Shocker who was underutilized). Drama was great, as was the plot. I loved the small stakes of the movie. It just put a few key characters in peril, and that was enough.
Yeah that made me roll my eyes. With how much Spidey is being used to hype up Cap, you'd think Cap could take both Winter Solder and Falcon at the same time too. I mean, it's not like he struggled with one of them for a whole movie.
Vulture was a great villain, Holland did a great job of portraying a young Spider-man, and they kept Iron Man as a great role model. Definitely another win for the MCU

I was going to mention this as well. Considering this is set a few months after CA:CW, you'd think that he would have improved. But it seemed like he went backwards in that regard, at least for the most part. Because then you also have [SPOILER - highlight to read]: the scene on the ferry, after it split, where he was swinging around, twisting through the air and shooting webs all over the place with far greater skill than he shows at other points in the film. But yeah, this movie did not do him any favours where future versus matches are concerned, except in the durability department. The [SPOILER - highlight to read]: punches from Shocker #2 at the homecoming dance, the ceiling collapse, and the plane crash were some pretty brutal impacts.
CA:CW was all over the place though. I take all the fights in that film with a pinch of salt at this point, because people's power levels were just going up and down depending on the plot progression. You have Spiderman taking down Sam and Bucky (though, to be honest, Bucky was hardly in that fight), Cap taking down Spiderman but, earlier in the same film, Bucky overwhelmed Cap and sent his ass down an elevator shaft in under 15 seconds. Best example is still Iron Man though. During the final fight, he catches a metal arm haymaker from Bucky and stops it dead. Later in that same fight, Bucky's human arm outmuscles the same arm that stopped the haymaker.

loved this... awesome film.. Keaton was a pretty good villain.. Holland was f^cking awesome... I enjoyed the story a lot.. seeing Tony as a mentor/father figure was a smart move on Marvel's part. this was a good mix of teen angst and a young inexperienced hero.
as for Zendaya well she is [SPOILER - highlight to read]: MJ, but not MJ
can't wait to see[SPOILER - highlight to read]: Gargan as Thee Scorpion
Spiderman: Homecoming had an opening Thursday equal to both the ASM movies combined. It also made 50% more than Spiderman 3 and Guardians 1, about the same as Iron Man 3, and 3 mil less than Avengers. Spectacular start.

1) It doesn't account for how much Spidey holds back himself [SPOILER - highlight to read]: "No Kill mode! I don't wanna kill anyone!" and.... "Mr. Stark doesn't know what I'm truly capable of"
2) It was before he got [SPOILER - highlight to read]: access to the suit's full webbing abilities. Impact webbing e.t.c.
That said, they would still probably have Prime Cap slightly above a 15 year old Spidey lol
Very good film, it felt like I was legitimately watching a Spider-Man comic. The only complaint I have is, what's with that tubby little dork they got to play Flash Thompson?
