So seems the predictions from over a year ago were correct, back when production problems surfaced industry insiders said that Lucasfilm was prepared for this movie to bomb, which it looks like it has. Then recently for whatever reason that narrative changed and people thought it would be more successful.
Think there's probably a lot of reasons for this - some people still angry about Last Jedi. A bad release date for this movie (don't know why they didn't release it around the holiday season like they always do), a premise no one really wanted in the first place.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've heard largely good things about it, even from people who despised Last Jedi. So seems that quality of this film isn't the problem.
I knew it was a bad sign when they said they had to redo scenes for the movie cuz the main actor was so bad. Lol.
Also I heard [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Lando f*cks a robot. That just screams "we're trying WAY too hard".
And I guess they threw in that surprise cameo at the end so people had something to fap over to make up for the sub par movie.

Interesting also that it seems like Disney was planning on making more Solo movies, setting this up to be its own trilogy/series/whatever. I assume that's not happening now.
We have sex bots but it will probably be decades before we master creating them so they look like they aren't dead inside.

I loved the Last Jedi but do agree she hasn’t handled this well at all. With all the crazy announcements all over the map to not knowing what the **** she’s doing. There’s no clear direction. She looks so bad at Disney now in comparison to Feige. Put filoni in charge.
Kathleen is a strong independent woman so that makes up for it all.

I do not care for your political bullshit I care about great films. I also don’t care that Tom Cruise in an insane nut job I just care about his acting ability.
Was disappointed by this story-telling. It seems all the most exciting things in han solo's backstory all seemed to have happened within three days of each other.
Galaxy seems a lot smaller. Han a lot less interesting.
I have usually agreed that less is better and most of the time we don’t want to see everything behind the curtain. I’ll see it again but it was better than I thought but I did have low expectations. You know your dick got hard for the cameo. Don’t lie.
It got spoiled for me ahead of time so I wasn't quite as hyped. It was cool that he was in it but story-wise I'm sort of like, weirded out by the implications.
Like is the Solo trilogy going to have Darth Maul as the main villain? Who asked for that?
We won’t see another solo film with the box office numbers but this definitely acknowledges the animated series survival of Maul. I hope he makes it into another film.
Oh yeah I think it's great he is in live action again. I assumed all of his "being alive but with robot legs" stuff was already canon.
I feel like he should have gotten his own film. There are way more characters in the expanded universe that would have blended better into Solo than A Sith Lord.
I just hope this failure at the box office doesn’t stain Maul’s character to put him in another live action film. If Maul got his own film I’d go nuts but who knows anymore now that a Star Wars film bombed hard. I’m sure there will be meetings and things are going to change. The brand has never been this weak in terms of profit and fan outrage.
Oh I doubt Maul will be to blame for the film's financial and critical performance. If anything, Disney is just going to double down and make more and more recognizable spin offs featuring characters we already know.

Never let anyone else define you. Don't be a jerk just to be a jerk, but if you are expressing your true inner feelings and beliefs, or at least trying to express that inner child, and everyone gets pissed off about it, never NEVER apologize for it. Let them think what they want, let them define you in their narrow little minds while they suppress every last piece of them just to keep a friend that never liked them for themselves in the first place.
I disagree with the "worst studio ever" part because they have some nice moments and some winning films for sure. But it all comes down with what corporations think as money makers.
