Nor are liberals the ones who outright say in speeches that they love uneducated ignorance

Nor are liberals the ones who stopped a bill to provide aid to veterans purely to spite Obama

Nor are liberals the ones so reviled that people come out in the THOUSANDS to protest against them

So yeah, take a look at the right wing before you start criticizing the left. Because you say you want to make America great again, and yet Trump and the GOP has now made America the ultimate mockery in the view of both the American public and the world.

You do know that liberalism really means is that you advocate social progress for egalitarianism and human rights? The U.S. is a liberal democracy because our civil liberties are the most protected rights of the Constitution. Quite simply, liberals are humanitarians. We hate dehumanization and want to see everyone get treated equally under the golden rule rather than be socially stratified by darwinistic capitalism (and this is the liberal belief on capitalism: Just like religion, there's nothing wrong with it until it is used to exploit others and violate human rights). Liberals are not socialists. We just desire for everyone to have government-provided access to healthcare and education (which are basic human rights which everyone deserves to have regardless of economic status) and basic livable wages to afford food, clothing, shelter, utilities, transportation, and, if affordable, consumerist luxuries.As far as welfare is concerned, nobody on the left or right likes welfare moochers and their should be restrictions on them, but to eliminate such programs entirely and things like Social Security (which would be the ULTIMATE PHUCK YOU to the labor workforce of the past half century) would be disastrous to the public.
As far as guns, we don't want a complete disarmament gun ban like the right suggests, just military grade weapons, which neither civilians nor police should be wielding. Unless you are in an action movie running from a mercenary team, there's no reason you need an assault rifle for self defense.
So this is what it means to be liberal

You do know that all conservatism really means is that you are afraid of social change aka social progress and want to keep the status quo? Yeah, that's not going to happen. The world is changing and becoming more diverse, tolerant, and egalitarian. It's the 21st century and you still want the idyllic WASP paradise of the 50's. I'm sorry but that era is GONE. You can't fight change, because change is a juggernaut, and any attempt will just lead to self destruction, as shown with the chaotic FUBAR cluster**** that is the GOP party right now.


Interestingly, Trump has left wing views on healthcare and social security. He doesn't identify himself as left or right wing. He's pretty much a political party unto himself that just happens to have the GOP logo. So if he has admittedly liberal views, are you willing to admit that by proxy you also have left wing views?
