I don't know if anyone did refute it. I think it's still worth noting that you can't just assume that someone does condone violent extremism simply because they're Muslim, even if statistically it's likely.
Especially not in America.

That's fair, and is more or less the approach I take towards people in general.
Oh, and as for the actual topic: him being taken aside and the police called is perfectly acceptable action (I don't know what a ****ing bomb looks like, and if some kid had a mechanical ticking contraption in my class I'd want the ****ing police called too). Asking loaded questions like "Why are you making a bomb you ****ing shit-skinned terrorist?" to him before determining that his clock was not, in fact, a bomb is probably indicative of discrimination.

War--an actual war--creates a different set of conditions, but only regarding actual combatants. It's very tricky when you're talking about your own citizens as enemy combatants in a nebulous "war on terror."

It's astounding to me that after all the details have come out about how Ahmed was treated that there are still people who don't see the obvious racism and discrimination.

YEah, it's like Obama is sending a message to all muslim kids that if you carry items to school that make teachers think you have a bomb then you have my respect and you get to meet me, your muslim leader.

That kid is more intelligent than you, long pig, and Supra combined tbh. Ever consider that Obama recognized his potential and didn't want this kid's aspirations for greatness to be soured by a single bad experience?
so you must be opposed to dropping the bombs in hiroshima and nagasaki, including a planned one for berlin?

Because this wouldn't have happened to a white kid. If you say you honestly believe that if for example a white kid with blond hair and green eyes named Billy Anderson made an identical clock and showed it to his teacher, he'd get harassed and embarrassed like that. Then you're a liar. The teacher who knew it wasn't a bomb, didn't even stick up for him and say "Guys, it's not a bomb. It's a f*cking clock. He showed it to me earlier." This only happened because he is clearly Middle Eastern, his name is Ahmed Muhamed, etc... He has all the makings of a terrorist if you're ignorant.
It's less about the principle of the incident and more about the populism of the outcry for the incident. That's what modern politicians do. React to populist, flavour of the day, "trending" bullshit. The worst thing about that is they only do it cos that's what the moronic masses do. Perfect example? The reactions to Joseph Kony. He's still out there but no one gives a shit anymore so neither do the politicians. You can go through numerous examples of it over the last few years. ALS, Cecil the lion, Aylan Kurdi,
It's why politics is generally going to the dogs in every western country.
Nothing is done proactively. Every policy announcement is a reaction to whatever is popular which is then abandoned once the issue is no longer in the public eye.
There's 2 kinds of politicians. Windvanes and signposts. Sign posts say "these are my principles, this is what I stand for. If you believe in these principles then vote for me". Windvane politicians change their opinions and stances based on what's popular. They go by the old saying "these are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others"
