I think the main thing that I hate about it is again, the Orcs look so cartoony and out of place. Standing next to the humans, they just don't look like they belong in the same movie...let alone reality. I feel the creators of this movie made a HUGE mistake by not making it completely CGI or just animated.

?? Did you watch those links? Those were completely CGI. And they looked great! It'd be akin to watching a Pixar movie or something. Yes, I don't like too much cgi in LIVE ACTION, which is exactly what they're doing with the Warcraft movie.

LOL. Dude, they can SAY they're doing a ton of practical effects.....and even if that's true; it doesn't take away from the ridiculous amount of CGI in this movie. AND, the CGI is just not good. The orcs look fake and cartoony. They look almost straight ripped from the game whereas the humans look like normal people. It's just a bad mix.

So you're saying you'd rather have it be live action than a complete CGI/Animated film ala Pixar? Cause I know I'm not watching this live action crap. But like you said, to each their own.

I didn't realize Duncan Jones was the director for this. Don't know how I missed that. I guess cause it does just look like another generic CGI mess. Moon is great, so this seems really unexpected. But in his hands it may not be totally terrible.

Yeah, the original LotR films did a lot with more practical make-up effects on the Orcs and it still looks great and doesn't distract and disconnect you from the world they created. That's a big reason The Hobbit films weren't as good, to me. So I don't understand why it can't be done. Not sure what the expense difference is. I mean, they're both expensive I'm sure, so why not go the route that is the most believable and less distracting?
Well, in the case of Warcraft Orcs...there was no way to make them look believable or at least like they fit in a universe with real people. As I said, it really should have been done in a completely CGI/Animated world like the WoW trailers. That, I would have watched. Not this crap that they gave us.
