When did I say I didn't want a great DCEU film? I'm speaking purely box office. Posting on the BO forums has given me a bad habit of strictly talking numbers.
Basically I disagree that if JL hits a Billion then that's a win for DC. I think all their major event films should be flying over a Billion regardless.
I think what WB/DC desperately need right now is Not to make tons of money, but instead their first Iron Man or Winter Soldier. A film that blows everyone away quality wise.
Yes Suicide Squad made tons of money, but I'm not sure it helped the DCEU. Whereas X-Men First Class hardly broke even. But they didn't pull the plug on it because it was received so well and finally got people excited about X-Men again after 2 poorly received (but profitable) films.
Honestly, I would argue that the directors aren't the problem as much they're either given too much freedom or not enough. And yes, I'm even including Snyder in that.
Of course its a win for WB. And SS did help the DCEU. Its going to have a lot of spinoffs, which equals more money for WB. And that's all they care about at this point.
The only way DC will ever catch Marvel on the big screen is if they get rid of Snyder and represent the characters better. Dr. Frickin' Strange's solo film made more than SUPERMAN'S for God sake. That shouldn't happen. It was also reviewed much higher. Marvel just makes good films. DC makes mediocre films at best. I want that to change. But as long as the mindless fanboy zombies continue to defend the crap WB pumps out, all hope of a great DCEU is lost.

Don't try to play the grammar nazi game with ME, you Russian freak!
Important! There is some confusion over the nouns rise and raise when talking about pay or salary. In British English a (pay) rise is an increase in pay. In American English the word is (pay) raise.
Did you get a 4% pay rise last year? (BrE)
My boss said he's giving me a pay raise next month. (AmE)
It's a business, dude. At the end of the day its always about money. I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed Warcraft, but there doesn't seem to be a sequel, because it lost money for the studio, which is why we won't get any future films. Maybe on home video or on the big screen, but their production budget has to be much lower.
DCEU is already breaking records and over performing. It has good will of its own, which is why it's doing so well on home video. SS will surpass the likes of Civil War, for example.
It hasn't made a billion dollar movie since the relatively lame TDKR. And it probably won't make one again. Justice League MIGHT? But probably not.

That's a short sighted way of looking at making money. Generating goodwill will do a lot more money in the long term. Just like First Class did for the X-Men series.
Warcraft had a poor score on RT though which won't instill confidence in studios hoping it generated goodwill. Plus there was no greater shared universe to fall back on.
You realise when it comes to making money it's not the Gross that counts but the profit right? Believe me WS generated far more goodwill than SS, and was probably more profitable anyway.
Iron Man 1, Winter Soldier, GOTG (and Thor1 IMO) are the reasons the Avengers franchise continues to make a killing at the box office. People at WB like Snyder are left confused why their films aren't grossing that much with bigger names and budgets.

Yet, they are building good will. Now, if WW does poorly at the BO, then their will is going down, but all signs say that she will have a good opening weekend.
BVS and Suicide Squad had poor RT scores, too, but still made a lot more money.
Profit? MOS made over 300 million in profit. BVS made less, but still a lot of profit when you count home sales and promotional dollars.
^ I doubt MOS and SS made more profit than IM1 and IM2. Also bear in mind IM1/2 were made years ago. The international market has vastly increased since then. And Marvel was on its own then as well. Wasn't owned by Disney.
Marvel movies generally make more profit because they don't use an overly high budget and marketing campaign to sell their films. They rely on the quality of the films instead. Hence the lower OW's but higher box office multipliers.
Wonder Woman is a Huge name and something new, so it doing well won't mean goodwill set up from BvS or SS. They should have done WW first.
