Still WW kicked butt domestically, but I'm guessing there was more prejudice towards the film internationally. Like some Arab countries refused to show it.
I thought GOTG 2, while it started well, was tonally all over the place. It's not a bad movie per se, but I think WW is a genuinely good comicbook movie with far less issues than GOTG 2 had.
GOTG is on its second film. Already an established MCU franchise.while this is WW first film. Pretty damn impressive that it will beat GOTG Vol. 1 and do 800 world wide. And 400 plus domestic. It has OFFICIALLY taken the crown for leggiest 100 m plus opening. Its the box office story of the year.
Its dalies are also ahead of Jurassic World. Wow.

You're making out GOTG and WW are in the same ballpark in terms of accomplishments. They're not.
WW was always the most iconic female comic book hero of all time. GOTG on the other hand was a completely unknown property and frankly a bizzare one to try and bring to the big screen. There was also almost nothing connecting it to Iron Man and Captain America. Unlike Homecoming which by far is the least successful of these 3 superhero films.
Also this was WW's 2nd live action appearance after BvS.
Yes Wonder Woman clearly has the best legs of any superhero
But her amazing legs also highlight just how badly BvS underperformed.

Just because you're more iconic, doesn't always equal success on the level of Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman is in a league of her own, and that's including MOST Batman/Spider-Man movies. Iconic characters is just one piece of the puzzle in the success of WW.
I didn't say that's the Only Reason. But look at the first Big Screen Batman, Superman and Spider-Man films and how successful they were. They were all good/great, but they only needed to be good for that kind of massive success.
Still impressive no matter how you slice it. Wonder Woman is one of the only movies to earn a million plus in dallies after 45 days it was released. Only a handful of films can say that (The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, etc...).
I thought it was good, but "Best Picture"? Eh. If it gets nominated and doesn't win I guarantee people will just cry sexism.
