So Luke's character arc is going to start at depressed and cynical ay? I gues it's a good thing Rey is a sue whom everyone loves and admires the moment they come into contact with- I'm sure she'll teach Luke how to hope again with her brash determinatiom and innocent idealism!

i'm underwhelmed as well...but lately it seems that the quality of films is inversely proportional to the quality of their trailers.
still hopeful.

For all the hype people have been building around the release of this trailer, I was expecting something with a bit more impact. Will obviously still go see it when it comes out, but this trailer did nothing to really bolster my enthusiasm.

Feels like we had a film about them returning once but alright.

Yeah I'm sure the suits will get rid of the only thing that makes the Star Wars universe special in the eyes of the average viewer and upend 7 prior movies just to introduce something new like the Bedeye or whatever. ¯\_(ツ_/¯
If this is actually what happens, and it sounds likely to be the case, then this new trilogy officially does more harm than the prequels ever could.
Luke just needs to learn to believe in himself. It's the only way to master his Ki.

I'm mixed. On one hand it's understandable for Luke to be a bit jaded and have some self-doubt after the tragic fallout with his apprentices, but on the other hand, it's worrisome as to what kind of sendoff he might get, at whatever point. If he gains some enlightenment merely because of Rey, then yeah, that'd be dumb. Not sure how to feel about his new arc yet... :/
That's the thing though. What else can they do with Luke? Dude sit back as his nephew terrorized the galaxy and murdered his best friend. If he's not given up then why be in hiding?
Snoke better be the most impressive Sith in history cause otherwise I see no reason why Luke avoided him while being indifferent to the idea of facing Palpatine and Vader. Which would be dumb because Snoke is a dumb name.
