So apparently they were considering making James Gunn's Suicide Squad 2 an R rated film but they are reconsidering that because Birds of Prey flopped.

I hope they keep it rated R.

I hadn't heard that. Hope it's true, too. An R-rating in James Gunn's hands would be gold.

But he's fine with PG-13 anyway, because the GotG movies are beyond great. So it shouldn't really matter too much.

I mean it is understandable. In a way I wouldn't blame the execs for thinking that Joker was a fluke because of this.

I think you mean Birds of Prey right, cuz Joker was a success and was rated R.

In fact the success of Joker was what probably had them entertaining the idea of rating the Suicide Squad sequel R. If Birds of Prey had done well I'm guessing they would definitely decide to rate it R.

Yup.

Good copy visually, plus I got to learn written Korean. Too bad the film was hot garbage.

Meh, it probably won't be much longer. I'm just going to wait for a normal version.

Yeah, so I watched this and boy am I glad I didn't actually pay to see it in the theater. It is very bad.

I think it suffered from many things, but most important of which is probably poor direction/vision and wannabe Tarantinoitis, yet didn't have the writing to back it up. It remained semi-watchable just for the colorful trainwreck that it was and a few of the stunts and fights were decent, but good lord, the heavy-handed feminist girl-power crap got annoying. Instead of pretending women could so easily physically beat up all these men, why not use their cunning, intellect, sexuality (and maybe a little physical force) to infiltrate the evil powers and celebrate female power? And it comes across as DC just making the same mistakes over and over again. Why not do another character study film (similar to Joker) about Harley Quinn to establish her as a character and then introduce these "Birds of Prey" in a separate film? Her backstory would be so much more interesting to introduce the character. But instead I'm having trouble deciding if Suicide Squad or this is worse. It's a tough choice.

Oh, and Margot Robbie didn't even look good in this. That's a difficult feat to accomplish, so a bigger f#ck-up is hard to envision.

You lost me hard at the “do another character study film (similar to Joker)” part.
Otherwise, very enjoyable review. Thanks for sharing... thumb up

I'm actually pretty astonished it has a 78% rating on RT. I think that's probably mostly attributable to the feminism trend, because otherwise it would probably be 30% or 40%.

Don't forget Ghostbusters 2016 has 74% on RT. roll eyes (sarcastic)
