There was a lot of negative stuff going on in the 1950s and into the 1960s. Unfortunately for America when we shed a lot of those negative things..we ended up tossing out some positive things too right along with it.
So comparing this to throwing out the baby with the bath water is appropriate.

Even though I said we got rid of a lot of negative stuff, I'm sure they'll assume the positive stuff I'm lamenting is stuff like whites only restaurants and all that jazz.
Speaking of the 1950's though, it seems some people this day and age do want to bring back something that was popular during that era that I feel is a negative thing: McCarthyism.
