It was ridiculous. My eyes almost rolled out of my skull when I heard that crap. [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Killing off John Conor in the first 5 minutes so that some brown girl, who is a terrible actress by the way, can take his place and they can rehash T1 and T2 yet was a terrible idea and the BO reflects that. It's too bad because Rev-9 was fun, Arnold and Linda were good, and the action was good, but they had to ruin it with inserting some silly political message that 99% of the world doesn't care about.
No you moron, we care because Hollywood went out of their way to pander to a demographic, while trash talking the original fans, who happens to be a majority males.
No one cares that the main character in Hunger Games was a female. Why? Because every character was treated with respect.
Underworld was series with a main female lead, no one bat an eye.
Aliens
Prometheus
T1, T2, T3, T5. All of them had a strong female lead
Buffy the Vampire was a female empowered series, while at the same time treating the male cast with respect.
Heard the movie bombed and has SJW shit in it. Ah well.

While I can't comment on this movie specifically (Beyond what I've seen in reviews), I will say the most common criticism of girl heroines has been a lack of "heroes journey" writing.
Contrast Thor with Captain Marvel, where the former had to overcome serious character flaws and grow as a hero, while the latter was essentially a flawless hero from the start.
In this frame, the complaints amounts to shamelessly pandering a pure power trip, at the expense of solid, classic story telling principles of trial, loss, sacrifice, and personal growth.

Don't be a jerk just to be a jerk, but if you are expressing your true inner feelings and beliefs, or at least trying to express that inner child, and everyone gets pissed off about it, never NEVER apologize for it. Let them think what they want, let them define you in their narrow little minds while they suppress every last piece of them just to keep a friend that never liked them for themselves in the first place.
Yep and as usual some people can't handle the fact that not everyone likes the movie, so they label those with a different opinion as women haters. So they can feel morally superior.

Why do girls tend to get the shit end of the stick here? Either their heroines are just female versions of male characters or they are over the top feminists spouting cringeworthy dialogue. Then we're all apparently supposed to pretend this isn't the case and we're called sexist if we don't.
