Nah. If those figures are accurate. Then, while it may not be a bomb, it's still a flop. Generally speaking, a movie needs to make roughly twice its budget back to break even. And if that 200 million budget is only the production budget and does not include the marketing costs.... Yikes. Then it would be a massive bomb.

7/10.
Lots of flaws, generic empty villain, pointless blackwashing of a character just to insert a black guy into the story ... Usual, American political crap.
Still, Johnson was good, Sarah Shahi was fine, the fat guy hit the comedic spot ...
Kandak was silly, made no sense as a lawless crime organisation controlled city.
Stupid that they just introduced Dr. Fate, only to kill him off without any back story - interesting character, could have done with a film of his own (like Dr. Strange).
They should have had Sabak as the first course, then Adam going too far, scaring the Justice Society, who call in Superman.
And have Superman bring Black Adam to his senses. And develop some sort of uneasy truce.
$200M on production? Really?
This had the CGI/set design of something off of CW. Like Legends of Tomorrow. Really horrible X-Men rip-off JS craft, emerging from under the estate of Carter Hall.
The only effects that actually worked well, were those in the various fight scenes involving Black Adam. The wind girl looked silly and DC Ant was so-so.

My cousins, brother, and I are going to see it in theaters this upcoming weekend (although my brother and I already watched a cam version and loved every moment of it) so it's BO tale hopefully isn't over yet
as did I. One of the MCU's INDISPUTABLE Top 5 and a rare 10/10 imo

Disregard this post, as I'm obviously referring to Black Panther 2. Wandered into the wrong thread. My bad
As far as this film bombing, I thought this was easily one of the best superhero films ever and perfect on every level in terms of plot, pacing, characters, narrative, theme, and exhilaration, and with The Rock and James Bond as co-leads and an indisputably well-spent budget on epic-scale gargantuan action setpieces, not to mention the mind-blowing cinematography and score, I am legit shocked that this wasn't instantly the highest grossing film of all time. To hear that it's FLOPPING is legit the biggest most baffingly-mindblowing bullshyt I've ever heard. I'm legit FLABBERGASTED...... I guess audiences are either too worn out from all the MCU films or maybe they are stupid idiots who have no taste, but they're missing out on one of THE INDISPUTABLE ALL-TIME TOP FIVE BEST superhero films ever (I would honestly put this on equal footing with The Dark Knight and Zach Snyder's Watchmen) and well...phuck em. Their loss if they want to miss out on one of the best superhero blockbuster spectacles in decades. I'm just glad myself, my brother, and cousins went to go see it and it was one of our all time best theater experiences, and Black Adam, Hawkman, Dr Fate, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher are amongst my all-time favorite heroes. I don't understand how anybody could dislike this film as it literally has everything you would want within a superhero film, from a being with powers of a god to a maverick who doesn't play by the rules. The film gives the audience everything they could ask for, so if people are to phuck themselves out of their own optimal entertainment, that's on them. That just means that people who are fans of the film have VIP access to the Kobe Beef of superhero films while everyone else settle for gas station sushi
^ It's simple math. It was too big a budget for a relatively unknown character. Marvel didn't spend $200mill on the first Ant-Man (for instance).
They did for the first Black Panther, but only after first introducing the character in Civil War, plus they figured the cultural appeal that world would have.

^^^I only watched it for Namor.
I wasn’t interested in the first one and didn’t watch it, and would’ve done the same this time around but, like I said, Namor.
