During the Republican response to the State of the Union on Thursday, Britt told a graphic story involving sex trafficking and rape to criticize Biden’s immigration policies.

The story Britt was referencing occurred during President George W. Bush’s administration, when Biden was still a senator. DeSantis Signs GOP Bill Rolling Back Child Labor Laws
Republican Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill Friday authorizing teenagers to work more than 30 hours per week with their parent's approval.
The governor's signing of HB 49, which had garnered criticism from workers' advocacy groups, came without fanfare. In fact, his office announced the approval in a press release along with 24 other bills the governor signed Friday afternoon.
Under the law going into effect in a few months, employers could schedule teenagers to work for more than six days at a time. Homeschooled teenagers and those who attend virtual schools can now work without any of the limitations the state places on minors.

DeSantis wanted to appear tough on immigration to support his presidential amibitions, so the Florida Republican legislature rubber-stamped his anti-immigrant policies, causing migrant labor to leave the state. Now, they are scrambling to replace those workers with low-cost child labor to keep multiple industries in the state from imploding, so they do not face the wrath of wealthy Republican donors and voters.
The bill was supported by DeSantis megadonor and packaging and shipping magnate Dick Uihlein. Not only does it allow teenagers to work in previously forbidden construction jobs, but it also allows developers to raze coastal and historic buildings and replace them with structuress as large as zoning permits.
Maybe not the best analogy, but it was still insightful. She's right, hatred is irrational, Republicans are a legitimate party with legitimate points that may be disagreed with, debated, contested, but hated is simply an act of dehumanizing.

A Republican candidate for state House of Representatives in Northern Kentucky was arrested and booked for strangulation Monday night. According to Kenton County Jail records, Brian Ormes was arrested by a Fort Wright police officer and booked into Kenton County Jail at 11:02 p.m. Monday on three charges: first-degree strangulation, menacing, and fourth-degree assault with no visible injury.
Ormes, 53, is a candidate for House District 67, located in Campbell County, and encompasses most of the city of Newport. The seat is currently held by House Democratic Whip Rachel Roberts, who is not seeking re-election. According to a bond decision from Kenton County District Court, Ormes is required to refrain from contacting the victim and to "stay out of all Walmarts" as conditions of his release.
According to a Fort Wright police report, three minors were playing with a ball by the bike aisle at the Valley Plaza Walmart. The ball almost hit Ormes' son, and the minors told police Ormes became angry and started following them around the store.
A police officer said in the report he saw security video footage of Ormes confronting a 17-year-old and punching him in the back of the head. Ormes then pushed the teen against a shelf and put his hand around the teen's neck.
Ormes was released from the Kenton County Detention Center on a $2,500 cash bond Tuesday. He is scheduled to be back in court April 16th.

Woman Behind Viral Anti-Migrant Hoax Charged with Stolen Valor, Fraud
A veteran who spread a false story blaming White House immigration policies for harming homeless veterans was charged with stolen valor and fraud this week after months of investigation into her charity work by the FBI. Sharon Toney-Finch, 43, founder of the Yerik Israel Toney Foundation in New York, was charged by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York with multiple counts of fraud. She could face more than 30 years in prison if convicted of all the charges.
Toney-Finch came under national scrutiny in May 2023 after her organization claimed that 20 homeless veterans under its care had been kicked out of a Newburgh, New York hotel to make room for incoming migrants being housed through county funding. New York state lawmakers introduced legislation to stop the evictions. But as the story gained national attention, hotel officials said they had no record of the veterans in question, and Veterans Affairs officials said they had no record of any direct work with the charity.
Between July 2019 and September 2023, Toney-Finch engaged in a scheme to defraud donors to her charitable organization by falsely claiming that donation funds would be spent solely to support homeless military veterans, when—in fact—she spent the funds on personal expenses. She further falsely claimed that she was injured in and survived a terrorist attack on a vehicle convoy in Iraq in March 2010, and that she is a Purple Heart recipient.
Between March 2016 and the present, Toney-Finch knowingly obtained hundreds of thousands of dollars in disability benefits from the V.A. by fraudulently representing that, during her military service in Iraq, she sustained combat-related injuries during a mortar attack in February 2010 and a vehicle rollover that occurred in March 2010.
Between August 2021 and the present, Toney-Finch has falsely claimed that she is a Purple Heart recipient in statements made to donors to her charitable organization, an application to the New York Department of Motor Vehicles to obtain a vanity license plate, and an application to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor to obtain a medallion and recognition on their website. Toney-Finch has also used, possessed, and exhibited a military discharge certificate that had been altered to reflect falsely that she is a Purple Heart recipient.
Toney-Finch, 43, of Newburgh, New York, is charged with wire fraud, which carries a maximum potential sentence of 20 years in prison; theft of government funds, which carries a maximum potential sentence of 10 years in prison; stolen valor, which carries a maximum potential sentence of one year in prison; and altering military discharge paperwork, which carries a maximum potential sentence of one year in prison.
Fox News has yet to mention her arrest, despite having devoted dozens of segments to her false claims.

Pastor Charged for Assaulting Wife Over Seat Upgrade
An elderly evangelical pastor is facing federal charges for assaulting his wife on an airplane because she got upgraded to first class and he did not. The ugly physical attack occurred July 2nd aboard Alaska Airlines flight 275 from Seattle to Anchorage, after Roger Allan Holmberg, 75, verbally abused his spouse and flipped her the bird in front of a cabinful of horrified travelers.
According to the complaint, a passenger who was sitting in first class next to Holmberg's wife, who is not identified by name in the filing, said things began to go south shortly after the 3.5-hour flight got underway. In the first of three separate incidents, Holmberg, who was flying coach, confronted his wife at her seat, the complaint states. "How the hell did you get the upgrade," Holmberg demanded of her, says the complaint. "I'm a gold point member," Holmberg's wife replied.
According to an off-duty cop witness, Holmberg struck his wife in the head when he returned to her seat in first class for a third time. According to the wife, Holmberg has a history of physical abuse.
