Arleen Sorkin, known for voicing Harley Quinn across the animated DC Universe, has died. She was 67.
DC co-head James Gunn shared the news with a post on Instagram dedicated to the memory of Sorkin.
“Rest in Peace, Arleen Sorkin, the incredibly talented original voice of Harley Quinn, who helped to create the character so many of us love. Love to her family and friends,” Gunn shared.
Sorkin began her career in television in 1982 with an appearance on Saturday Night Live as a background actor. In 1987 she was part of the cast of the sitcom Duet where she played the role of Geneva. She would later go on to appear in Open House (1989), Dream On (1990) and Perry Mason: The Case of the Killer Kiss.
In 1992, Sorkin began voicing Harley Quinn in Batman: The Animated Series. She would reprise her role in other shows like Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Gotham Girls, Justice League and Static Shock. Sorkin also lent her voice as Harley Quinn for DC video games like Batman: Arkham Asylum, DC Universe Online and DC Universe Online: The Last Laugh.
Sorkin also played Calliope Jones Bradford in the NBC daytime soap Days of Our Lives.

Dex Carvey Dies: Comedian Son Of Dana Carvey Was 32
Dana Carvey’s eldest son, Dex, died Wednesday evening from a reported drug overdose, according to a statement from his parents. He was 32.
“Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old,” the Dana and Paula Carvey statement began.
“Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things — music, art, film making, comedy — and pursued all of them passionately.”

Joss Ackland Dies: ‘White Mischief’ & ‘Lethal Weapon 2’ Star Was 95
British actor Joss Ackland has died at the age of 95, his family said in a statement. No cause or location were given.
The stage and screen actor had been in more than 100 movies and TV series, among them the films White Mischief and 1989’s Lethal Weapon 2.
The family statement said: “With his distinctive voice and commanding presence, Ackland brought a unique intensity and gravitas to his role. He will be remembered as one of Britain’s most talented and beloved actors.”

Frances Sternhagen Dies: Tony-Winning Broadway Actress, Cliff’s Mom On ‘Cheers’ Was 93
Sternhagen, one of the New York stage’s most celebrated and beloved stars, gave indelible performances in productions including the 1972 production of The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window, Equus in 1975, Angel in 1978, On Golden Pond in 1979 and, in 2002, Morning’s at Seven. She earned Tony nominations for all five of those shows.
Her Tony wins — for Best Featured Actress/Play — came in 1974 and 1995 for, respectively, Neil Simon’s The Good Doctor and Augustus Goetz’s The Heiress.
While she did not reprise two of her most noted stage performances for subsequent film adaptations – Joan Plowright was cast as Equus‘ Dora Strang and Katharine Hepburn famously played Ethel Thayer in the starry movie On Golden Pond – Sternhagen made memorable, often scene-stealing, appearances in such films as Up the Down Staircase (1967), Paddy Chayefsky’s The Hospital (1971), Billy Wilder’s Fedora (1978) and, in 1988, Bright Lights, Big City, in which she played the stern boss of the magazine fact-checker portrayed by Michael J. Fox.
