But I think what Poe was getting at is that college students in general are an easier target to ridicule for conservative pundits like Shapiro. Of course college students don't always come to the right viewpoint, but sometimes they do (for example equal rights for homosexuals). They may just not have the best reasoning and justification for said position and then a conservative pundit like Shapiro (who is obviously a basket case on issues like homosexual rights because of his stupid religion) can make them sound silly.

If Poe was referring to any particular interview or video I don't know what it is.

I understand what he was getting at, what I was saying is it's dishonest as hell to frame it solely the way he does. His reason might be part of it, but it ain't the full story.

Of course he is fully aware of this and yet he made his statement anyways. I'll let others judge what that says about him.

Man, Shapiro really embarrassed himself in that interview with Neil.

Neil had some great lines, though.

"Not a lot of bucks to be made at BBC" and "Thank you for showing that anger has no place in American discourse" as Shapiro was having a *****-fit for being confronted over stupid things he's said in the past. Great stuff.

Shapiro owned up to it.

That's pretty rare for pundits, admitted the other guy got you.

TBF, Shapiro already addressed that long list of BS on his own website and Neil simply didn't do his homework (his team, really).

A website dedicated to Ben calling himself out for saying stupid stuff when he was trying to be edgy.

And to be fair, he's probably so used to getting hammered on over petty stuff, jumping to that assumption can happen.

It's on him for being unprepared and letting his feathers get ruffled either way, but we all make mistakes. Only one with an axe to grind, or a shaky belief in their own side, takes pleasure in any hint of weakness.

it was refreshing to see, as opposed to all the typical far-right "that actually didn't happen, it was quite the opposite" gaslighting phaggotry.

Here is one reason some folk worry about these college activist types:

Harvard Caves to Student Mob, Fires Ronald Sullivan for Being Harvey Weinstein's Lawyer

Ben dropped the ball on a number of things during the interview.

-He wrote a book about anger, then lost his temper during the interview.
-He actually quit the interview which is not at all consistent with him.
-He accused a conservative journalist of being a lefy, which is the same cheap tactics he accuses the left of using when they label anyone who disagrees with them a far right.
-He tried to defend his racist statement about Palestinians with "I was talking about Hamas" when it was in fact about the Palestinian population, and the inerviewer called him on it. He could've just owned up to it during the interview instead of defending it.
-When the interviewer pointed out that he is not helping the anger issue with all of his "Ben Shapiro destroys..." videos Ben responded by saying that he is not responsible for what people write on Youtube, except a great number of these videos do not come from random Youtubers, but from his "The Daily Wire" channel. Neil obviously did not know that, otherwise this woud've been pointed out to him as well.

All in all, a pretty bad interview for Ben. Tbf he realized it and tried owning up to it in his "Shapiro 0, Neil 1" tweet. Problem is that old Neil guy clearly could give a crap about his score board and is not looking for a "rematch". He was just doing his routine as an interviewer, and Ben came out looking really bad and hypocritical.

Ps. Although I disagree with them on most subject I enjoy the hell out of certain conservative debators, but I swear they lose every rational brain cell the second it comes down to religion. That includes Shapiro and Milo. And they become easy "targets".

Or maybe it is not. College is a place to experiment with ideas. Most of the ridiculous things said and done on college campuses will never leave college campuses. Students abandon those ideas as they learn, grown, and mature.

College is the first time most middle-class suburban teenagers are free of the influence of their parents, church, and hometown communities. It is the first time they are being exposed to information and injustices of which they have previously been unaware, or from which they have previously been insulated.

It is entirely normal for them to feel upset about this, and to want to channel that anger into corrective action. Like new atheists, sometimes they over-correct, or are obnoxious, or make general nuisances of themselves.

It is the closest thing to crazy there is on the left, so conservatives point to them to Straw Man liberals: "See, this is where liberals want to take America!"

I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm talking about some of the unnecessary outrage going on, like this (see video below) where free speech/expression is under fire...

It's unclear how widespread these sorts of issues are, but they are out there.

Some very shit issues/happenings do not make for a pandemic. But it's certainly easier to attack colleges/the education system by making it so.

Right, exactly, which is why freedom of speech and expression shouldn't be unnecessarily restricted.

That way when the college students grow up they can be fired from a job for some particular Halloween costume they wore 30 years prior that is now deemed offensive. lol.

But seriously, I loved college when I got there, because I had been at a Christian high school for the previous 6 years where I was sheltered from reality. Suddenly reality was open to me and it was like finally opening my eyes for the first time. So the idea of mobs of hypersensitive morons trying to take over is sickening.

That would be okay if it were true. But it's leaving colleges and being codified into law as more and more thought-policing policies become official.

In a now-deleted Tweet, Shapiro—The Cool Kids' Philosopher—admitted to lusting after his sister.

It's like Ben Shapiro's trying to blame homosexual and trans people for his own incestuousness urges. These Trumpers truly are a weird lot.

Implicit in his Tweet is that he resents that LGBTQ people simply do not "resist their urges" the same way he has to resist his. Because being attracted to members of a particular sex is almost like being attracted to particular members of your blood relatives.
