Most here probably already know this, but: Smart Hulk was originally set to bust out of the Hulk-Buster armor and then curbstomp Cull Obsidian in IF, but it tested poorly with test audiences.
Actually, they've said they removed smart Hulk from IW because that moment of victory would have been tone deaf in relation with the ultimate loss at the end of the movie.
It makes sense for the evolution of the character but you do not care about the character. Just smash stuff in every film. We get it you hate the Russos. Hulk proves the powerhouse in the only original avenger that can survive the fear which included Thor. Told you so.
I dont get what the obsession with people that wanted Hulk to fight Thanos again for some type of redemption for Hulk. Hulk has never beaten Thanos in the comics and for them to show Hulk beating down Thanos just to fan service Hulk is stupid.
I don't think they should have had Hulk transform in Infinity War; it would have wasted a great moment.
Personally, I just wanted something, anything to address the fact that in the first two movies (and it was at least referenced in Ragnarok), that the Hulk is an actual monster. It's something Banner doesn't want to be, because when he's the Hulk, stuff gets broken as ****.
Maybe even the moment Scarlet Witch had when she made Thanos afraid enough to call down artillery, they could have made that be during a fight with a truly Savage Hulk, but that would have taken away something from Witch, and she needs all the help she can get at this point.
Making Hulk a comedy character dilutes him, imo, and I hope that the She-Hulk show brings him back to being a cautionary tale.
Because the original Trio all fought Thanos, but its actually a Quadri, which the Russos seem to forget.
Now I dont get why everyone is so cool with Hulk being the only player on the bench for almost 2 entire films. Didnt have to fight Thanos (though did feel his absence missing in that OG Avengers vs Thanos fight). Could have been Cull Obsidian. But clearly that was more of a job for Ant-Man
As for Hulk never having beaten Thanos in the comics... thats kind of irrelevant given how many characters have already had him beat in the movies who also were no match for him in the comics.
