Once more, the Fates have intervened. Once more, these characters' destinies have intertwined.

Whilst on an exploratory mission for the Ultimates, Monica Rambeau, Spectrum, was sucked into a portal. Dazed, confused, she quickly recognizes her surroundings, and is ready and alert for battle.

16th Century Venice.

0.5km away, from another portal, falls the Last Son of Krypton. Superman quickly realises his predicament and is also ready and alert.

It is at this point both characters are taken over by our esteemed posters.

ok, nothing terribly tricky here my dear judges. to exactly no one's surprise, bazie's entire premise is faulty and he's asked the completely wrong question--as he usually does. his opening, like most of his posts, is completely irrelevant. she is a light speeder, which against most is pretty fast. against superman? 😂

monica has a couple feats where people seem to be frozen from her perspective because she can move at light speed. superman can perceive and react so much faster than she can, that he is able to see her the way she sees most people.

she'd need to have several feats that show her acting and reacting at speeds WAY beyond light speed (not some random piece of one-off PIS) to even make speed a discussion. if i wanted to, i could simply avoid her the whole time, easily.

no need to. being made of electromagnetic energy, she is susceptible to an EMP. like so:

THE EMP

By her own admission, JBazieL’s admission, AND on panel evidence, YES, she CAN be affected by an EMP. 👆

Length of time it would affect her is meaningless here. even if she’s only staggered for a second (though it would be longer than that for certain) it translates to huge amounts of time for me. and a strong enough EMP COULD take her out completely, or at least stun her and make her solid enough to KO. His striking power is beyond question:

Again, these aren’t especially awesome (well, the diana one IS pretty damn impressive…). She WOULD be surprised by my EMP so it follows she would AT LEAST be stunned and assume a physical form. Then superman ends her, quickly and definitively. Monica’s durability has been very questionable over her career.

If ironman can ko her with her own energy (a simple laser), and disrupt her with his repulsors, there is absolutely NO reason to think Superman’s heat vision (VASTLY more powerful) wouldn’t be a SERIOUS threat to her. Especially if he is continuously shifting (like the monkey’s force field) its frequency (microwave, x-ray, gamma rays, etc…,) so she can’t match or absorb it.

Doubly so if you realize it happens to her when she is temporarily staggered already.

So, yeah, this is going badly for him. The ability to (a) stagger her with an EMP or (b) simply avoid her through my massive speed advantage, invisibility or intangibility, gives me a chance to end this definitively via trap, cancellation or combo-to-ko.

Anyway, you’ll of course notice that once she was forced OUT of Thanos, she was TOTALLY useless afterwards. If she DID get inside me, only bad things would happen to her:

(a) she would struggle to get out to avoid being metabolized before being forcibly removed via heat vision, or

(b) through sheer willpower and invulnerable cells she’d get the boot.

(c) then weakened, she gets her a$$ one-shotted.

As far as more traditional durability showings: superman v luthor. A lot of scans, but worth reading. Short story, luthor becomes damn near all powerful and after some soul searching, decides he would rather kill superman than use his new power positively. The first few blasts superman tanked from luthor, when he still had ALL his powers were ludicrous. Does anyone REALLY think monica can generate THAT level of power? Polaris and his insane other personality Repulse BOTH drain him of sunlight and attack him via the EM spectrum throughout, yet he’s still using HV and catching cars. It’s perhaps the best equivalent we can get as to how someone like monica might do. Monica lacks the ability to manipulate EM energy at distance though. As for the EMP comment, Repulse didn’t really know what she was talking about:

MY PLAN REVISITED

My plan is about as simple as it gets. Stun her with (1) a surprise EMP which worked on panel, or (2) a HV blast that changes her frequency (SEE BELOW), then I (a) trap her, (b) cancel her, (c) punch her hard light form into unconsciousness. 👆

He spent a lot of time talking about ironman for some reason, but I explained in the first post why I showed that scan, and his armor<<<<the shield superman can generate. And, of course, she’s stunned, so…she wouldn’t be moving. /shrug

Anyway, to the above, we can now add (d) absorb the life out of her, violently blast her a$$ OUT of me, THEN punch her hard light lights out, as was shown in post 2. That’s what she gets for trying to enter me as light. 😐

And that’s it. Hopefully, despite the idiocy, you maybe learned a couple things about superman, his versatility and ability to adapt to fighting different types of characters. Maybe you saw some scans you haven’t seen, or haven’t seen for a long time, at least. My opponent not withstanding, it was fun looking back at some of superman’s cooler feats and trying to show his more esoteric, and less explored abilities. Thanks to the judges for wading through this and apologies to the forum in general for the debacle this turned into. 👆

Okay so given the nature of the BZ and that one of the posters is now banned, I'm just going to directly post my verdict lol.

Baz (since I know you're watching)

The good: Well debated, you convinced me that Monica can't be trapped, as she'd just shift her energy out of the containment field and escape. You also convinced me that Monica doesn't really have a fragile human form that can be easily shattered by Superman. Good showing of cosmic awareness for Monica, I believe she would possibly be able to dish out some weak point attacks.

The bad: You completely wasted your first post, and then did very little to follow up your offense. You played very counter-like after your first post and given you went first, that shouldn't have been the case. You did bring up some offense later, but nothing that wasn't counter able.

Leo

the good: You proved that Superman is significantly faster and would be able to avoid Monica as much as he'd like essentially. You also proved that an EMP would at the very least stun her and then Superman could take it away from there, despite her not really having a fragile human form.

the bad: Your containment strategy won't work enough for a victory in my opinion, that seems to be area where Monica can get away from Superman and while Superman wastes some time with it possibly even harm him.

How the fight would go down:

Monica blitzes, gets evaded, Superman tries to trap her, Monica escapes, eats an EMP and is dazed for enough time that Superman can vibrate her or sing her out of existence and what not. Even if Monica manages to slip past Superman and attack him during the containment attempt, she wouldn't be able to put him down before being stunned and then killed.

Verdict: Baz, you did fine which shows you have good potential debating skills. But my vote goes to Leo, not because I hate you or whatever reason you're stalking right now, but because you had no answer to Leo's speed, no answer to his durability and wasted your first post so basically started a post behind. When you inevitably sock into another account, you'll have more experience and improve even more. Not a bad showing at all on your part, you have some stuff to be proud of 👆

Again though, my vote goes to Leo.
