The MCU clearly wanted to establish Thanos as the most powerful being in the universe, why else would they include that in the script? And Ronan confirmed it when he responded "not anymore", as he used the power stone.
Sounds a lot like you're trying to argue "writer's intention" just like h1 likes to do.

Yes, since he did so easily at the end of the film. What makes you think he could not because everything you say it reinforced by your own what ifs or your imagination.
And he goes on to say he is going to Nidavellir to acquire Thanos killing weapons. We see his idea start to form to take him to the point he is going to the same dwarf who created the gauntlet that contains the power of the stones themselves.
So he goes to the right guy who creates his finest weapon everyday superior to his hammer but it does not matter since he already went there to acquire weapons capable of killing Thanos the most powerful being in the universe. Do you think his old hammer is capable of killing Thanos?
He says he had a chance with a weapon capable of killing the most powerful guy in the universe according to Thor. Try to think objectively on what the words mean together not selecting some and trying to skew their meaning.

There was a momentum change but Thor never defeated him. It gave him the advantage but he did not prevail. Thanos proved no parity since he quickly and desicobely beat the Hulk. That is the differencebetween two peers or someone out of your league. Once Thanos countered he quickly destroyed the Hulk.
They are peers only a biased fanboy would say otherwise. Thornevereven defeated him and just hit him a few times to which the Hulk recovered. Quit being so emotional all the time this is why you are pathetic.
Thor did not faze him. That is what the intro showed. Hulk did Thor did not. Hulk is stronger than Thor, clearly. But they are not equals in every category. That is fine he was not aware of what Eitri would create but he was sure he would create a weapon capable of killing Thanos. That is the point. At no point did he ever say he would create a replica of his hammer so it is a false distinction you’re trying to make. What is important is he said he would create the Thanos killing weapon.
Well we see Thor with a weapon and a cheapshot against Thanos after he just tangled with the Hulk. We also know what the directors think which corroborates the screen facts. Thor does not hold a candle to Thanos in a one on one fight. I did see the film and I know what the director said and how. Thor fares with a weapon and a cheapshot. Not well, kid.

The line was in there to illustrate Thanos is The Big Bad in the MCU. Now If someone reliable from Asgard confirmed the same then that would be different.

And LOL No, it's only you and Josh claiming Hulk and Thor were still peers at the end of Ragnarok. No one with even an ounce of objectivity is calling them peers in anything besides from physical strength anymore.

He went for a Thanos killling weapon. Point is Eitri made the best weapons in the universe and never said he wanted an exact replica of his old hammer.
False, a momentum change did not propel Thor out of his league. Feige would laugh at your bias. Honestly, it is pitiful. Thanos is not a peer but Thor is. Fact is he never beat the Hulk so continue to tell me how you feel it will not change the facts.
