1. Hulk is 'unleashed', bloodlusted.
2. Thor is trying to talk him down, until the end when he finally says the civilian damage/death is too much.
3. Thor is Allfather here, as Odin is in Valhalla.
4. [SPOILER - highlight to read]: It is an alternate future
On the one hand, nice lip service to Hulk - the most destructive being in human history, Thor being 'no match' for Hulk, Hulk moving at incredible speeds across the country....
On the other, Thor of all people being the one to drown him, lol.
Even if it was canon, Hulk was being controlled. We usually don't use that against the character. It also looks like he was fighting against the control which is another hindrance. Overall, even if it was canon, it's a good read. Great fight tbh.
I dunno - Skull said they had been using Hulk as a weapon ever since H-day, dropping him into countries and Hulk seemed capable of killing people like Spidey and Iron Fist. Didn't seem to be fighting back against the control, only saying things so he could sucker punch Thor (who was still trying to save him).
Good fight, all the same. File it under the same issues as TOBA Hulk for battleboards, I guess.
^ I had been very curious by what this new Phoenixforce was going to feed on before taking on Enigma. Surprised by how this new Phoenixforce is empowered, represented, almost defined by mutantkind. I didn't expect that. Kinda seems somewhat narrow?
Enigma, however, turned out to be a disappointing nothing burger. All that lip-service and I'm hard-pressed to cite any of its actual feats. Like, what did it actually do? Tweak the timeline from outside time and space? Meh with a capital "M".
Yeah, the ending - after all this buildup, with Orchis then Nimrod then Enigma - only to have it end with....a personification of Logan stabbing a personification of Sinister, seemed a damp squib.
I mean... the X-Men fighting Orchis was alright I guess. But it was so scattered between Cyclops, Storm/Magneto, Emma/Iron Man, Wolverine/Exiles, etc. that even though I read everything, I couldn't keep track of it. In the end, I just knew it'd be wrapped up and the X-Men would be nothing worse for the wear.
I did really like that Xavier convinced Moira to be the backdoor to attacking Enigma. That was really clever.
But, yeah... the Phoenixforce being unceremoniously killed by Legion, rebirthed from Hope/Jean's corpse(s), empowered by mutants... just killed Enigma?
I was thinking because 1/4th of Enigma was an "arcane" Dominion created from the White Hot Room, that it had planned ahead against its apparently inherent weakness to the Phoenixforce. Like it'd be one last twist to the crisis at hand. Nope. Didn't matter at all.
Then I was like, oh sh1t, Enigma convinced all the other Dominions to come fight with him! And then, nope, they were like, "Nah. We peace out, n1gga."
