That, and different species or not, it's generally better to assume that if an alien is human-like on the surface, then at least part of their biology works the same way.
Otherwise you go down a really weird rabbit hole of implications.
When I said "it's never about the agenda" I was really talking about an absolute of aesthetics. That's hardly how most people consume my fiction, so it really is my fault. Also I was making jokes at the same time, so it was a terrible moment of clumsyness. My mistake.
Thanks. Happened pretty quickly. Developed a tumor in his spine so his back legs just stopped working. To do an MRI and the surgery would cost $12,000 and no gurantee he was even going to survive the procedure. He was already over 12 when it happened
Similar situation with my German Shepherd a few years back. She was 12ish as well and woke up one morning and just couldn't get up, as though her hind legs were paralyzed. Took her to the vet, and they suspected she had some sort of dog stroke, so I ended up having to put her down.
I have never, in my adult life, cried as much as I did that day. Not even when some of my human relatives/family have died. The death split my spirit to the bone... Even took the day of work, iirc.

Found bad bone spurs all up my dogs spine last Feb. Then she had a myriad of random health problems I would combat (blood in urine, allergic to every second medication, allergic to carpet I installed and had to get rid of, seizures and pooped blood after one seizure, I bought her dog cbd oil and she became allergic to that too, etc), and then finally two really bad days, including a full day of no walking. I asked her to give me a sign of what to do, and she had a really good day the next day, and then had a big seizure outside and collapsed again in the house. Didn't want her to suffer anymore, and she didn't get up the whole time at the vet, so...
The vets were trying to narrow down what was wrong with her for months besides the bone spurs, but they never did. I just know she didn't have cancer and she might have had colitis.
The first time she wouldn't walk (her first ever health problem) I came home from work that day and she got up immediately when she saw me like nothing was wrong. But it didn't work the last time.
She was only 9 turning 10 in July too, and never had a noticable health issue until last Feb.
I loved that dog more than anything else besides my mom.
But yeah, I don't think I'll ever get another new dog again. I hate cats though, so maybe a cat for a family pet or something. You could cycle through a lot of those for a family imo
Sorry to hear that. Dogs really are the best and we don’t deserve them
Yeah I was a wreck too after Norman passed. He acted like he was a puppy right until the end. He was so confused why his back legs just stopped working. Heart breaking.
