I guess you could argue Jean was always the Phoenix, but she expelled it when she returned recently. She's gotten stronger without it because she doesn't fear losing control to it anymore.

Jean, Betsy, and Rachel typically struggle with building/plane/train-sized objects. That is their standard power level. A mountain-sized object is already out of their league (I have never seen them move an object that big on panel, unless Phoenix-amped). A large spherical segment of a planet should be completely out of their reach under normal circumstances. They simply aren't that powerful.

Manchester Black protects his ship by keeping the quantum rift from collapsing into a singularity around them.

Maxima has closed a giant fissure that, when viewed from space, seems comparable to the OP.

Superboy One Million holds several planets together after the destruction of their magnetic field generators caused them to drift apart.

Jean enters hyperspace to rescue Binary inside a white hole.

Rachel has opened a black hole.

These are just statements, so not as usable...but Psimon destroyed the planet Talyn(unnamed in the scans), according to Psimon, Donna Troy and Minion who lived there beforehand.

Vector claims to have repelled a planet in a fight with Hulk.

Psykos's thing is cool, but we have seen this stuff before in mainstream comics.

Quoting carver just makes it perfect lol.

Moments before, she and Cable nearly died in mental combat with the Phalanx Collective Unconscious before they ass-pulled an escape though. They weren't at 100% there. Jean's held up heavier at things at the bottom of the ocean just fine.

Regardless, Jean/Rachel did those things, and similar, without the Phoenix. Their whole "Omega level" schtick is baked into their history, as they are constantly referenced as holding back for fear of losing control. That era of Jean actually adopted the Phoenix codename(despite not having the Phoenix) to explore her potential and escape the idea that it always results in tragedy. Some of her showings were meant to display that, like her displaying global telepathy or the white hole thing. Rachel has the same deal. We're both told, and shown, that their ceiling is higher than what we usually see. It's why I'm not skeptical when Rachel opens a black hole, or withstands Jovian atmospheric pressure. Or Jean helps Nate close off tears in reality(we can debate how much she helped but not the point). Plus, they've been explicitly mentioned as growing in power recently too. Just random statement scans here, but I'm just saying it's more than just high/low showings and you can find these littered throughout their history.

I wouldn't argue they enter a fight with cosmic TK, but this is a "replicate" thread. I just don't have a problem with them pulling off an isolated feat so far below their best.

Psylocke can't do it though. But also, yes, she can do it and she crushes everyone here because it's Psylocke and **** you. thumb up
