I said near the beginning of this thread that you can't form an opinion until the movie is made. The usual suspects did the same with The Witcher netflix show. Months and months of bitching and complaining about "woke" writers with shitty personal politics and needless race swapping. It turned out to be great.
Months and months of whinging and crying about how Captain Marvel was going to be all about feminism and (the cringiest word ever) "whamen" because of Brie Larson's IRL politics. Turned out to have less "girl power" stuff than either Infinity War or Endgame.
You'd think people would learn their lesson.
folks will never change their minds it seems

I do care, and I make a note of it for later, but I just want the thread to go back to normal.

I can enjoy the Witcher show (and I did) without liking the casting (which I didn't).
You are right that it's best to wait and see. Usually at least. I'm just not optimistic because they haven't been able to get "default" Superman right for years now, but this new version is a good idea? If it's Calvin Ellis, that would interest me. Definitely.

Yeah exactly. Its like a Miles Morales would be cool now, because theyve given us decades of Peter Parker films.
Even then would probably be good idea to transition to that via Peter Parker like they did in Into the Spiderverse.
What would you think of a Black Kal-El though Pr? Ignoring who the writer is...

Yes I get that. I didn't like all the castings in it either particularly Yennefer.
It's the prejudging based on irrelevant nonsense that seems stupid to me. Especially when it's to do with stuff like the personal politics of people involved. And it happens in all forms of the creative arts. I don't like Ted Nugent's politics but his music is awesome. A lot of people hate JK Rowling's politics but love her writings. It's worse with movies and TV shows though because of the time frames between announcements and releases and the automatic assumption that everyone involved is going to inject their particular brand of politics into every piece of work that they do.
The race bending frothers are hilarious though because whichever way it goes there's no consistency. The people outraged about Superman being black just happen to be almost entirely of one political persuasion and the people outraged about Scarlett Johansson being cast in Ghost in the Shell almost entirely happen to be of a different political persuasion. They both use the excuse that they just want it to be like the source material yet have justifications at the ready for why the other doesn't need to be.

Interesting. I actually want to see it. I like the Miles comparison. Whoever said that kudos.

If you portray it as a non-Earth 1 Superman, then I don't mind. Like, if Cavill Superman is floating around the multiverse and meets all kinds of Supermen, that's cool.

I don't even like Scarjo as Black Widow, but I digress.
Honestly, I just don't like stuff that strays too far from the core of the source material. I get that these are adaptations, but I feel like there's a point where it stops being just an adaptation and starts just being the thing in name only.

I'm less fussed about that when it comes to comic book stuff because I've got no interest in reading the source material so I judge the movies on their own merits. I know people who are so into the comics that it actually stunts their enjoyment of the movies. One person in particular I know pretty much hates the entire MCU because of how much the movies diverge from their source material. Particularly Civil War and anything involving Wolverine.

I'm a bit different in that I can handle a lot of changes of the stories, as long as they get the characters right. For the most part, the MCU did that. X-Men... not so much.

Well im guessing Cavill would still be around to some extent as long as the DCEU is still ongoing. Just like Robert Pattinson is Batman in the next solo film, but Affleck will be Batman in the Flash film.

I'd have no problem with that, as long as Snyder isn't near the movies.

Oh im sure hes done after the Snyder cut.
Its a miracle he made it this far tbh.
Still I feel like Cavill is a great actor to play Kal-El and its sad he will likely never get a second shot at a solo film.

People keep saying that, but WB aren't usually known for their smart decision-making when it comes to the DC properties.
