well we can't quite know for sure how they got onto the podium in the first place but my gut tells me Yoda pushed the fight that way seeing as how Sidioius had already tried to escape right at the start. Yoda had the strategic advantage there ill give him that but it still stands to reason he'd knowingly try to push the fight into an environment that suits him.
