He's big in internet culture, rather than the mainstream. Particularly the streaming world and the manosphere. He gained a lot of traction with certain pockets of young men, usually the "feminism ruined society" crowd.
Certain larger streamers covered him, as he is a content machine. Some argued against him or his ideas, and others just did react content. Hasan, Ludwig, Moistcr1tical, xQc, Asmongold, etc. Many of the largest names in Twitch/Youtube content creation basically.
I was kinda torn about it honestly. Tate had a following for sure, but it's almost like their coverage of him boosted his popularity well beyond what he would have been otherwise tbh. I wonder if it may have been better to ignore him at times. They did get him de-platformed, but that often makes martyrs out of these guys.

Disagree, elite Kick boxers fight under Muay Thai rules. But we have had this conversation a few times. I believe the Dutch and Thai styles are the most elite and always will. All other systems are watered down, with a few exceptions like Lethwei and Khmer Boxing which have incredibly stupid and dangerous rules. But yes, for watered down Western Kickboxing, you are spot on. Have you ever heard the insane Lethwei can continue after a knock out rule... Mad! Obviously the shoes and shoes to the liver and head in Savate make it a very stupid ruleset too. I am always shocked considering they have hardened toes more people do not die.

Far-right Fox News host Tucker Carlson is under fire for defending Andrew Tate even while Romanian police were investigating him for alleged human trafficking.
In an interview with the misogynist social media influencer in August of this year, Mr Carlson incredulously asked his audience: "They're telling us he's a criminal. Okay: has he been charged? Who are the victims?"
Those questions were answered on Friday when police in Romania arrested Mr Tate and his brother on suspicion of human trafficking and rape, accusing them and two other people of forming "an organised crime group" to make money from coerced pornography.
In fact, Romanian authorities were publicly known to have been investigating Mr Tate as early as April, when they raided his house in Bucharest following reports that a woman had been held captive in his house.
Mr Tate, an Anglo-American kickboxer-turned-internet personality who gained notoriety this year for his comments about women, has previously denied the Romanian allegations, and is innocent until proven guilty.
Mr Carlson's edited 15-minute TV segment in August spent very little time on that, instead focusing on Mr Tate's ban from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok, branding him the "most censored man in the world".

I'm including them. The top MT and Dutch stylists are generally in those organizations too as there's so much cross over these days. Nong-O, Superlek, Lasiri, Superbon, Sitthichai, Rodtang, Petchmorakot ,Lerdsila, etc -- all fighting in One FC or Glory. Same for the women.
ONE has become a big Muay Thai hub, although the fighters often go back and forth between rulesets. Kickboxing pays better than MT worldwide, so that factors in.
Yeah, Lethwei's "continue after a KO" rule is utterly insane.

Ahh, I am always negative of those promotions I really should watch them, are they allowing the plum and sweeps yet?
I have been watching a bit of Lethwei, the skill level is quite low, but the way that the head butt is used means the plum and long clinch could just be opening a fighter up, perhaps even framing a headbutt. It just goes to show how rules affect fighting so much, for instance the football kick to grounded oponents in Pride negated so much ground fighting. All good!
