Putin's hanging in there and waiting to see if he can assist in getting Trump back in office or any Republican for that matter in 2024. As US Ukraine support would quickly dry up in late Jan of 2025, if that were to happen.
If/when Biden wins again in 2024, Putin will withdrawal out of Ukraine not long after, he's not going to waste four more years of resources hoping the Republicans can then win in 2028.

If Russia wanted to crush Ukraine they'd be crushed.. They want the land and they want to absorb the population, they have created escape corridors for civilians (And been criticized for teaching Russian to Ukrainian children in Russia)

No one is getting accurate figures from Russia, and Ukraine isn't exactly a paragon of virtue (Just because Russia is a greater evil doesn't erase the well documented charges and proofs of corruption in Ukraine).

I mean unless you think they can actually conquer Russia and get back ALL the territory.
Because Zelensky said he won't accept any deal that means a loss of territory from 2014 to now. This either means Ukraine must have a total victory, or we keep giving Infinity money and infinity weapons while we see who has more troops to throw into the meat grinder.
