Agreed with all these

I'd also add:
Roy Batty from the original Bladerunner
Alex from A Clockwork Orange
Hal from a 2001: Space Odyssey

The obvious and generally agreed upon ones aside.

@imp/Jaden" Good call on The Event Horizon as a villain, a film rarely mentioned, but it's great 👆

@Arachnid1: Also good call on Hal, not one that comes to mind for me.

Is Vader still considered a villain?

For sure these:

The Thing (1982)

The Borg (agreed on the TNG aspect)
Terminator (1984)
Emperor Palpatine
Oxymadius (I'm assuming it's part sci-fi)

Possibly: T-1000 (Robert Patrick)

Still weighing the rest

No Dalek love or Clarence Boddiker? What about Ming or Zardoz? Still thinking, so many options...

^^^A tragic one, but def. a villain.

The corporation's in Rollerball are still the best of the Hungergames type elite systems as villians although the Elysium elite were horrible too.

The master computer in Logans Run is a bit of a ****, not sure he is up their with Skynet or the Machines in the Matrix mind you, neither is he as funny as Hal or the one in Demon seed or that shit film with Johannson. The one in Oblivion is worse but still not the very worst, although the most successful invader of Earth. Is V'ger Star Trek again the worst by action?

I'll provide the definitive list of some more underrated villains...

Agent Smith

Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin

Hannibal Lector & Buffalo Bill, Silence of the Lambs

Vincent D'Onofrio from The Cell

Vincent D'Onofrio as Edgar The Bug from MIB

Homelander, The Boys

Yellow Bastard, Sin City

Immortan Joe, Mad Max: Fury Road

Lord Marshal and the Necromongers, The Chronicles of Riddick and Riddick.

Kathy Bates from Misery

Mrs. Carmody from The Mist

Indominus Rex, Jurassic World

Odin Guincannon and Herr Starr, Preacher

The High Evolutionary, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
