Both the Hobbit and the Silmarillion definitely need to be movies. Seeing LotR was.

i agree w/ billyboyd4ever, one good thing about lotr is even if you havent' 'read the books and know everything you still can really enjoy the movie

Well, as I already said, there is a chance that Legolas would be in it. That is because Legolas is the son of Thranduil (the King of the Mirkwood Elves in The Hobbit), and could therefore be seen while still being true to the story. However, one thing that the Directer might do is make Legolas into a main character of the movie. They could, if they wanted to, but it would ruin the movie for any that had read The Hobbit.

I edited it, adding in the rest. (That the director might turn legolas into a main character).

Same here. I mean, my dad was telling me to read the LotR trilogy (plus The Hobbit) every time I was needing to read something, but it seemed too big a book (since it was 4) for me to read at such a young age, so I always said no. But, after seeing the movie, I just couldn't help but want to read the books.

I doubt they will make a hobbit movie because they kind of explain the events of the hobbit in the fellowship at the begginning in the backstory, but still I hope they do, the hobbit is such a great book.

Oy, what was the order in which Tolkien wrote the books--I thought the Hobbit was before LOTR.

The Hobbit isn't nearly as epic LOTR... it's a pretty good read for anybody, young or old. smile

I really don't think they'd ever make the Silmarilion into a movie, but you really should read the book... It's not all as wierd as the beginning. In fact, that's probably the wierdest part of the lot.

By the way, krassin, why the 'yeah...i live in canada..'? Personally, I'd rather be living in Canada than in the USA, at least as far as politics go. At least Canada has the guts to stand up for their principles, for what they believe in. I'm half Canadian half American. I find I have more Canadian in me than American, however, and I think I've got the better part. My current slogan: "Ashamed to be an American. Proud to be a Canadian." So anyway, be proud of what you are. Right now I'm about as patriotic as Bin Laden is Jewish.

And turin, I know of B&N, that's where I got what I have. The problem is that I'm too busy. I've got a ton of summer reading to do, including a book report on The Hot Zone for Honors Science next year, (I'm going into my Sophomore year of High School). And What's more, I've just re-read the Hobbit and LotR, as well as the entire Harry Potter series. So you can imagine how busy I've been. Overall the reason I haven't gotten more books yet is because it would be irresponsible of me to slack off on my required work in order to do some casual reading. Anyway, it's about 4:30 AM here in New England, so I'm going to catch a few hours of sleep.
