Marc Rothemund, director of the Oscar-nominated Sophie Scholl: The Final Days, has signed on to direct
Galapagos, the true-story adaptation of a mysterious series of killings on the
Galapagos islands in the 1930s.
Galapagos is based on Margarete Wittmer’s best-selling autobiography Floreana: A Woman's Pilgrimage to the
Galapagos. Wittmer was part of a small group of German émigrés to the
Galapagos. After a series of unexplained events in 1934, all of her companions were killed or vanished, leaving her the island’s sole inhabitant.
