Mel Gibson Gladiator
[Friday, February 9th, 2001]IMDB reports that Mel Gibson had been aproached for the part of Roman Maximus in Gladiator before Russell Crowe. The reason they give is that he says he is getting to old for the action roles and so turned down the offer
Scott says, "He wound up giving me glucosamine, saying it would help the kneecaps. He was the natural choice, but he said, `I'm getting a bit old for this, don't you think?'"
