British documentary helmer Leslie Woodhead is to make
Godless in America, says Variety.
The movie will examine what it is like to be an atheist in contemporary America. It follows the struggle of American atheists interwoven with the story of Madalyn Murray O'Hair, the founder of American Atheists, who was murdered in 1995 at age 76.
"The story of Madalyn Murray O'Hair is a classic piece of American Gothic and is highly appropriate for the Sundance audience," said Woodhead. "The campaign of the people who choose to be godless in America has a very special relevance now. It will be a dark, funny and scary film."
