'Kids' Director Gets 'Interrupted'

Interrupted
Larry Clark ("Kids") will direct "Interrupted," based on Nicholas Ray's posthumous autobiography " I Was Interrupted," edited by Susan Ray, reports Variety

Script, penned by Oren Moverman ("Jesus' Son"), tracks the last ten years of Ray's life. Ray has been widely recognized as one of America's most influential directors, working with Humphrey Bogart, Anthony Quinn, Natalie Wood, Joan Crawford, Richard Burton, John Wayne and James Dean in classics such as "Rebel Without A Cause," "In A Lonely Place," "On Dangerous Ground" and "Bigger Than Life."

"Interrupted" follows Ray from his collapse on the set of the epic blockbuster "55 Days At Peking" to his work with young film students, his tumultuous affair with his wife Susan, who was 40 years his junior and his battle with alcoholism.

"'Interrupted' is the story of a unique American journey -- the story of an artist consumed with the passion to create, the story of a man trying to come to terms with his life and, ultimately, a story of redemption," said Danny Fisher. "We believe that Larry Clark has the vision, talent and personal experience to create an exceptional and unique film."
