Sean Bean (
The Lord of the Rings) has come aboard the cast of
The Island for director Michael Bay, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Bean will take on the part of Merick, the chief antagonist in the film, which stars Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson centers on a harvested being who becomes self-aware and tries to escape the utopia where he lives.
