Lucky Universal Get Kingsley Amis Classic Novel

Lucky Jim
Universal has optioned the feature film remake rights to Kingsley Amis' classic novel "Lucky Jim," reports Variety.

Rights were acquired for a mid-six-figure sum from Canal Plus, which produced a 1957 feature adaptation, with John Boulting directing and Terry Thomas starring.

As yet, no screenwriter has been hired to pen the adaptation of the novel, described as a "comic catastrophe" centering on a young professor who struggles to make a name for himself in the competitive world of British academia. As he does so, he becomes the victim of a series of disasters that test his will and commitment and threaten to derail any possibility of a distinguished career.

Amis property is the second notable literary acquisition for Strike after it acquired Calvin Trillin's novel "Tepper Isn't Going Out" earlier this summer.
