David Ayer has signed on to rewrite and direct
Mafia Cop, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The true-life story, which has been called one of the worst police corruption scandals in New York history, centers on Louis Eppolito, a highly decorated cop who was found guilty, along with Stephen Caracappa, of participating in eight murders, two attempted murders, one murder conspiracy, money laundering, obstruction of justice and drug distribution.
Eppolito and Caracappa were arrested in 2005 after retiring from police work. Before his arrest, Eppolito tried his hand in acting and screenwriting and had the part of Fat Andy in "Goodfellas."
