Bob Dylan Project Attracts BBC Investment

Masked & Anonymous
The British Broadcasting Corp. has come onboard the Bob Dylan movie "Masked and Anonymous," reports Variety

The public broadcaster's BBC Films arm has acquired all U.K. rights and is making a significant equity investment in the Intermedia Films project.

Described as a fablelike musical drama, "Masked and Anonymous" is set in a nameless country wracked by an endless and senseless civil war in which everyone has forgotten what they are fighting about.

Dylan plays Jack Fate, a washed-up singer wrestling with his personal demons on the eve of his final benefit concert, a massive event intended to revive his career and bring peace.

"Masked & Anonumous" will feature 40 minutes of music from Dylan, including new songs written for the film.

Former "Seinfeld" scribe Larry Charles will make his feature directing debut on the film, which is based on an unpublished short story by Enrique Morales.

The movie is set to start shooting next week in Los Angeles.
