Palm Pictures have bought the rights to director Michael Kang's feature
The Motel, says Variety.
The movie tells the story of 13-year-old Ernest Chin, who lives and works at a sleazy, hourly-rate motel on a strip of desolate suburban byway. Misunderstood by his family and blindly careening into puberty, Ernest befriends Sam Kim, a self-destructive yet charismatic Korean-American man who has checked in to the motel. Sam teaches the fatherless boy all the rites of manhood.
The primarily Asian-American cast is led by Jeffrey Chyau (Ernest), Sung Kang (Sam) and Jade Wu.
