Vampires Read 'The Moth Diaries'

The Moth Diaries
Jersey Films and Larger Than Life Prods. have acquired Rachel Klein's supernatural thriller "The Moth Diaries" to develop at Universal, reports Variety.

"The Moth Diaries" is set in the 1960s at an exclusive boarding school beset by a series of disasters. Story is told in the voice of a 16-year-old who suspects a schoolmate is a vampire, responsible for a devastating illness afflicting her best friend.

"Vampire stories have always explored people's darker impulses and their struggles with that," said Larger Than Life's Gary Ross, who will produce the pic with Jersey Films co-chairs Michael Shamberg, Stacey Sher and Danny DeVito. "Obviously, no time is that struggle greater than in adolescence."

"We love working together," said Ross, who wrote and directed "Pleasantville" and is now penning "Seabiscuit," which he'll direct later this year. "We almost made a movie together and are always looking for opportunities to work together."

"Stacey, Danny and I second that," said Shamberg. "We hope we do many projects in the future."
