Three UK film production companies have grouped together to develop a movie based on the rivalry between the UK and Argentina called "Playing for the Enemy," reports Variety.
The U.K. and Argentina went to war in 1982 over the Falkland Islands, in the South Atlantic off the coast of Argentina.
Giant Films and Fat Melon Films have pacted with Patagonik Film to make "Playing for the Enemy," a comedy drama about a Falkland Islander who goes to Argentina to realize his soccer ambitions.
The companies said they hoped to cast legendary Argentinean soccer player Diego Maradona in a cameo role, and that the search for the next Jamie Bell ("Billy Elliot") for the lead is under way.
"The history between England and Argentina, both on the battlefield and the football pitch, provides a rich dramatic backdrop to the story," said Patagonik producer Octavio Nadal. "This is a feel-good movie about the peace process between our two nations."
