Anderson Talks On Progress Of Resident Evil Sequel

"Resident Evil: Nemesis" is now well underway, reports Empire Online. Empire got a chance to talk to "Resident Evil" director Paul Anderson.

“I’m still writing the script at the moment, that won’t go into production till next year. The sequel will be Nemesis and it will be set during the same time period as the Nemesis game [partly before and partly after the initial zombie encounter]. So it will be survivors from the movie meet survivors from the video game.”

“We’re going to introduce Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira from the game and a few little surprises as well. Of course there’s the Nemesis himself too, the big dude.” Anderson was also quick to quash previously reported rumours that Mira Sorvino was being lined up to fill the role of Jill Valentine. “That is a rumour, no basis in truth there. I haven’t finished the script so we haven’t gone out to anybody yet. I think I’ll finish it before I decide on anyone in particular.”

But will Milla Jovovich return to pick up her role as Alice? “I certainly hope so,” says Anderson. “I’m writing her a kick-ass role at the moment so she’d better come back.”

Jovovich herself is reluctant to say that she’ll definitely be signing on for round two but she definitely seems to be up for the part. “Well, I don’t know. Maybe,” she told Empire. “I don’t want to say anything because… I would love to do it but we’ll see. We’ll see how the script turns out.”
