Matthew Broderick Talks 'The Stepford Wives'
[Monday, June 7th, 2004]Matthew Broderick admitted that tempers sometimes flared on set of The Stepford Wives, though he added that he did not witness the reported fights between director Frank Oz and and fellow co-stars. "I didn't notice," Broderick told Sci-Fi Wire. "I honestly wasn't there. I know there were some moments of disagreement, but I really wasn't there."
The New York Times had reported that the production "was plagued by contention between Mr. Oz and the actors." But, Broderick added, "I wasn't there in the scenes that [the fights] would have happened in. Everybody who has been in this business for a long time [knows] you can't do a movie and not have a disagreement every now and then. Comparing it to other movies, I would say this was rather on the low end of tension. Most of the time I found that everybody got along very, very well."
