Wellspring Take On Caouette's 'Tarnation'

Wellspring are coming aboard for director Jonathan Caouette's highly personal film about growing up with his schizophrenic mother Tarnation, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The studio will co-producer and will provide completing financing. It will distribute the film worldwide.

Caouette is said to have assembled the movie on Apple's iMovie for a reported $218.32. It premiered at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, where it enjoyed critical success for its unique combination of home videos, diary entries and snapshots. A theatrical release is planned for fourth-quarter 2004, with a video/DVD release to follow.
