Universal Pictures has inked a deal to produce a dark comedy from tyro writer-helmer Austin Chick, reports Variety.
Chick's "XX/XY" was a Sundance Film Festival fave.
Currently untitled, Chick's comedy follows a recently fired online exec as he takes revenge on his ex-boss. Chick is also at work on "Love Is as Easy as 1, 2, 3," which he hopes to cast soon and shoot in the late fall.
"Casey (producer Casey Silver) knows how to make movies with smart people in awkward, uncomfortable situations, instead with stupid people doing stupid things, and I find that a lot funnier," Chick said.
