Franchise Pictures is going forward with a sequel to its 2000 crime comedy "The Whole Nine Yards," reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Bruce Willis is back on board to reprise his role of a hit man in hiding.
Jonathan Lynn directed the original feature, which held the top spot its first three weekends in release, grossing $57.3 million domestically.
Howard Deutch ("The Replacements") is negotiating to direct the project, with Matthew Perry, Natasha Henstridge and Amanda Peet in talks to return for an Oct. 4 start date in Los Angeles.
The original film's screenwriter, Mitchell Kapner, wrote the script to the sequel, titled "The Whole Nine Yards 2." It will continue the adventures of a mob man (Willis) and his next-door neighbor, a dentist (Perry).
