Phoenix Pictures has set up the Crusades epic "Warriors of God" at MGM, with Christopher Crowe ("The Last of the Mohicans") hired to adapt the novel and produce with MGM and Phoenix, reports Variety.
Written by Pulitzer Prize-winner, the former journalist James Reston, Jr., "Warriors of God: Richard the Lionheart and Saladin in the Third Crusade" chronicles the fiercely contested battles over the Holy Land in the last years of the 12th century.
Leading the charges were Kurdish sultan Salah ad-Din -- a brilliant leader who also made costly errors -- and Britain's King Richard, an extraordinary fighter whose lack of resolve cost him Jerusalem.
