Alex Steyermark is to direct
West Memphis Three, a feature based on the Arkansas murder case, according to Variety.
Michael Pitt and Jacob Reynolds are to star in the movie with many others in negotiations.
"West Memphis Three" is set in 1993 after the brutal murder of three young boys from West Memphis. Local teens Damien Echols, Jessie Miskelly and Jason Baldwin were subsequently arrested and controversially tried for the crime. Some observers viewed the accused's fascination with heavy-metal music and Goth fashion as prima facie evidence of guilt.
Production is scheduled to begin in October in Dallas and Arkansas.
