Paramount Pictures has picked up the spec script "Wrecked" from former development executive-turned-screenwriter Steven Gilder, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The project, described as being in the vein of "The Deep," is a sexy thriller set against the backdrop of treasure hunting in Bermuda. It centers on a husband and wife, who accidentally discover a sunken treasure that leads to betrayal, deception and jeopardy.
Gilder, a former vp at Dark Horse Entertainment, had applied for a development position at Mutual last month by sending the company's Kevin Messick his resume. Messick called Gilder to say that no positions were available, and Gilder mentioned that he wrote a script in the vein of "Deep." A fan of the classic film, Messick asked to read it. When he received it a week later, he liked it enough to take it to Paramount, which promptly picked it up.
