Danny Strong To Adapt 'The Butler'

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Danny Strong (“Recount”) will adapt “The Butler” for producer Laura Ziskin, based on the Washington Post story about an African-American butler’s career at the White House.

Sony acquired the feature rights to Wil Haygood’s Washington Post story “A Butler Well Served by This Election” a few weeks after the presidential election. The story chronicled Eugene Allen’s work for eight presidents from 1952 through 1986 along with the hope and optimism he and his wife shared as Barack Obama was about to be elected.

RT TV is one of the better soeurcs of news out there. Max Keiser has a show on it too, of course, and so does a liberal American radio talk show host named Thom Hartmann. Ironic that a network from authoritarian Russia is a better source of news about the United States than the corporate (not liberal) mass media is. I acknowledge that RT is full of spin and propaganda when it comes to anything relating to Russia and its interests (like Syria.) But I can filter that out. I'm glad that RT is on my cable system here in Canada.
