RATING (0 TO ****): 0

Typical of the jokes that misfire badly in DEUCE BIGALOW: EUROPEAN GIGOLO is the one in which Deuce Bigalow (Rob Schneider) drops a bowling ball on the head of a guy in order to determine if he is really dead or not. There is also the standard slapstick fare of slipping and falling and of being thrown through plate-glass windows. The above humorless antics are the best that the film has to offer. Most of the jokes are painfully bad. Schneider's facial expressions in the movie make him appear to be having all the fun of a root canal without benefit of anesthesia. Trust me. You'll be sharing his pain.

The plot for DEUCE BIGALOW: EUROPEAN GIGOLO has Deuce and his friend T.J. Hicks (Eddie Griffin) looking for a killer at a European convention of "Man-Whores." Deuce explains that his buddy T.J. isn't really gay, or, as Deuce puts it, "T.J.'s not normal gay but musical theater gay." Ugh.

This mean-spirited movie is the type that you hope you'll be able to forget quickly but fear that it will linger with you like a bad dream. It manages the seemingly impossible of being even worse than the last Deuce Bigalow movie, DEUCE BIGALOW: MALE GIGOLO. I could tell you more about it, but I'd rather begin the process of trying to forget it as soon as possible. Movie-going should not be such a painful experience.

DEUCE BIGALOW: EUROPEAN GIGOLO runs an excruciatingly long 1:23 -- one minute of this movie would last a lifetime. It is rated R for "pervasive strong crude and sexual humor, language, nudity and drug content" and would be acceptable for older teenagers.

The film is playing in nationwide release now in the United States. In the Silicon Valley, it is showing at the AMC theaters, the Century theaters and the Camera Cinemas.
