616 Blink

The thread will focus on AoA Blink but to begin with here’s a bit about 616 Blink, younger and far less battle weary than her AoA counterpart. She has few appearances but had some nice feats during them. She couldn’t properly control her powers like AoA Blink so whenever she tried to teleport things they’d be shredded. Here she displaces every part of Harvest for a fraction of a second, causing him immense pain.

Again her powers slice through Harvest-Phalanx.

Later, knowing she has the power to stop this part of the Phalanx then and there before it spreads, she slices the ship apart first getting her friends to safety. Then she unleashes her special shearing abilities across the entire ship displacing every part of it, herself and the Phalanx entity. The young mutant nobly sacrifices herself to save the others.

Age of Apocalypse - Background

Blink recalls how she met Sabretooth – he saved her, however the backstory varies from Sinister’s breeding pens, to Abyss, to Dark Beast’s laboratory.

After being rescued, Blink is still heavily traumatized and has remained underground. Her entire family was killed during the cullings. During her time with the X-Men she’s formed a close bond with them, especially her rescuer Sabretooth.

Morph masquerades as Sabretooth, because he knows how much his word means to Blink. She tells him of feeling guilty for not doing enough to help the rebellion. She sees through his guise, but he manages to convince Blink to help them, as she’s the only one capable of transporting them.

Age of Apocalypse

In her first active role as part of the X-Men, Blink teleports herself and the entire team to Death’s base on the moon – approximately 375,000 km (233,000 miles) – showing that her range greatly exceeds that of most teleporters. The X-Men are defeated but Morph provides Blink the opportunity to escape.

Cyclops and Blink break into the base and free Sunfire, however he begins unleashing his destructive energies. She teleports Cyclops safely back to Earth to an unknown location, then teleports herself and her team-mates back to their base with a new ally in tow. The X-Men watch as the base on the moon explodes, delivering a blow to Apocalypse’s plans, due in no small part to her teleportation abilities.

Age of Apocalypse

Later during the Age of Apocalypse, Blink has become an established X-Man and serves as the team’s primary means of transport. On a reconnaissance mission Sunfire and Blink are compromised and have to return to base with the info they recovered. Prelate Delgado follows them through. Blink closes the portal on him, killing him and keeping their base of operations secret.

Sabretooth gets Blink alone to ask her something, she already knows what he wants – to be sent to face Holocaust. She tells him how thankful she is to have had him as her father-figure. Rogue interrupts, however Blink disobeys her order, blinking her for a fraction of a second and knocking her out. She then sends Sabretooth to Holocaust’s last known location.

Age of Apocalypse

They break into the Infinite Processing Plant to destroy its operations and save Sabretooth. When Blink sees Sabretooth strung up and looking dead, she blinks to him on instinct, again showing how close their bond is and the things she will do for the people she cares for.

Enraged by Sabretooth’s apparent death, Blink runs rampant devastating the Infinite Plant by shearing it to pieces. She takes out a section of his life-support armour. He throws her against a wall, but she blinks behind him nailing him in the back. They’re at a standoff, when he asks her whether she thinks she’s faster than him. She responds, “My name is Blink, who do you think is faster, half-scan?” opening a portal beneath him and dropping him into a vat of genetic stew.

Age of Apocalypse

Holocaust isn’t so easily beaten and surprises them, but is fooled by a ruse by Rogue. Blink is happily reunited with her mentor and father.

Blink Solo

Some time chronologically before the fall of Apocalypse, Blink featured in a solo miniseries. It reveals some biographical info; she was born in Cartusia, Bahamas and was experimented on by the Dark Beast to refine her powers.

She dives headfirst into a group of Apocalypse’s Infinite henchmen, through their gunfire, teleporting one of them who-knows-where. She then shows some acrobatic skill in a perfectly executed backwards somersault. Staring down the barrel of a gun she calmly teleports the rest of the Infinites away. She shows more acrobatic agility flipping through gunfire from above and teleporting away the bridge her attackers stand upon, sending them crashing down.

She enters to find an one of the Dark Beast’s experiments – an alien who appears to be the Impossible Man. He taunts her commenting on their past encounters and saying she doesn’t have the resolve to kill an innocent – however she disproves him stabbing the alien through and sending him away.

Blink Solo

She is chastised by Magneto for her rash actions but stands defiant against the Master of Magnetism. She impulsively enters Apocalypse’s citadel alone to find Holocaust fighting Blastaar and a group of Baluurrians. She casually flips over Holocaust and through gunfire into the portal to the Negative Zone. When she wakes she is faced with an armed assailant.

Blink Solo

Blink is left amnesiac after going through the portal to the negative zone. However while her conscious mind may not remember how she learned her fighting skills, her instinctive subconscious memory and body remembers how to use them. She was trained by Sabretooth and the training served to disarm Ahmyor (who is actually an amnesiac Annihilus). Ahmyor briefly regains the upper hand, however Blink fights dirty. They end up with knives at each others throats in a stalemate. Hostility quickly turns to amity, as Ahmyor is delighted to have found a kindred warrior spirit.

Blink Solo

Blink and Ahmyor chance upon a village being attacked by Blastaar’s troops. Once again her instinct takes control, she uses her acrobatic skills to knock out a Baluurian henchman and flip off the Ferecat beast. However she’s briefly distracted by a flash of memory.

She backflips about 15-20 feet into the air and again her instinct brings out her innate talents as she throws two daggers with perfect aim and teleports the victims away. Together they fight off the rest of the troops earning the praise of the villagers, and Blink finds herself swept into another rebellion.

Blink Solo

Blink rides through gunfire from aerial attackers, leading them into a trap. She and Ahmyor have begun a romantic relationship. She returns to the guard tower, the guards spot her with their binoculars but by the time they’ve realized, she is already knocking them out with her martial arts skills. She blinks a sword to signal to begin the attack on the fort.

Blink Solo

She leaps through a window easily knocking out three guards. She enters the dungeon to find children – this causes a jolt of memory to hit her of her childhood torture at the hands of the Sugar Man. The memories of the traumatic experience cause her to collapse.

Subsequently her and Ahmyor are surprise attacked and captured and it’s revealed to her that Ahmyor, whom she believes she is in love with, is actually Annihilus.

Blink Solo

Blastaar tells Blink that Ahmyor was being truthful, he had no recollection of being Annihilus and was pure of heart. Blink shows her resourcefulness cutting through her bonds with an embedded shard of stone. She tells the guards as she does this but they’re too slow to act. She ports out of her cell and kicking them both, then stabbing and killing them. As she touches one of her pink stone shards her memories flow back to her.

Blink Solo

Blink teleports to Ahmyor, who is beginning to revert to Annihilus. She still loves him and wants to save him. She teleports him to safety, teleports Blastaar’s weapon of mass destruction back to Blastaar and teleports herself home.

She is reunited with her X-Men family, and tells of what she’s been through and her lost love to Sabretooth, who comforts her by telling her that no one can ever take away the feelings she felt. Months later as the nuclear attack on North America by the Human High Council is about to strike, Blink is saved and made into an Exile.

Down the Rabbit Hole

A bit of background, Blink is told she and her fellow Exiles are being charged with fixing realities, because something has gone wrong in each of their respective versions of the universe. In Blink’s case she is told events have transpired so that she was never born. They’re told they must serve the Time Broker until they’ve done enough to fix their own reality.

Old Wounds, New Battles

Blink dodges through Dark Phoenix telekinetic blasts with her acrobatic skills. She then sets up DP, making her think she’s the primary attacker when she’s really just a diversion. She helps to deliver the final blow, she opens a portal right before DP fires a telekinetic blast at Wolverine and Angel, showing impeccable timing and reactions, and they emerge behind her stabbing her in the back.

Exiles
Another Rooster in the Henhouse

Blink is reunited with Sabretooth. It’s revealed her teleportation abilities make the dimension hops with the Tallus more bearable. The Exiles decide to join with Weapon X to complete the mission. Blink teleports a group of them into the concentration camp to find a large group of children. She feels compelled to save them all, opening a large portal and taking them to safety. She then returns to retrieve the rest of the Exiles and Weapon X. However the mission isn’t over – they’re meant to kill David Richards.

Exiles
Another Rooster in the Henhouse

Vision overhears this and announces it to the group, the Exiles refuse, Weapon X wants to just get it over with so they can move on. Sabretooth uses an old codeword telling Blink to escape. She simultaneously opens about 20 portals, taking all the children, Sabretooth and the Exiles. She then teleports with all of them in tow multiple times rapidly in succession to evade Vision’s scans.

Sabretooth tells Blink to get the children to safety as he and the Exiles face off against Weapon X. She reluctantly complies opening a large portal. Sentinels attack both groups and she comes back evacuating everyone. Sabretooth decides to stay behind and raise the boy so that he won’t turn into a monster – so Blink and Sabretooth are forced to part once again.

Just a miscellaneous feat of acrobatics, aim and teleportation.

Legacy

Some more explosive teleportation by taking out a part of the Vi-Lock. Blink is later infected with the Legacy-Transmode virus by Forge, but despite being gravely injured by this manages to teleport herself and team to safety.

Blink is cured by a vaccine created from the healing factor of the Norse Pantheon, however the Time Broker tells her she has served her time and can go home. In truth, she is teleported to the reality of David Richards.

Exiles
A Blink in Time

Blink returns to the Exiles upon Sunfire’s death as they’re about to face King Hyperion. As King Hyperion thinks himself victorious Sasquatch is teleported above him by Blink. He thinks he has her beaten, however he underestimates her. The instant he initiates his flash vision to fry her, she opens a portal sending it straight into his back crippling him, showing superb reflexes.

The Big M

Blink pops behind Avalanche, kicks him in the back of the head, knocking the syringe out of his hand. She catches it and teleports a dose of tranquilizer directly into Avalanche’s brain.
