PrincessAsh007
i was just wondering if it is nessesary to read The Hobbit before you start reading the trilogy?

shadowy_blue
Kinda I say. big grin

It's necessary because there are some references to some of the events from "The Hobbit" in the "Council of Elrond" chapter in FOTR book. You could also have some introduction to Gollum, Bilbo, Gandalf, Elrond, etc. big grin

On the other hand, you could still "get" the overall events in the whole LOTR book without exactly reading "The Hobbit". big grin

Reading "The Hobbit" is really just for some further informations and understanding of everything that's going on. big grin

It's a cool book though. I suggest you read it whether it's necessary to LOTR stuff or not. big grin

By the way, are you related to ash007? smile

If you want to, you can. The Hobbit just tells about Bilbo went on an adventure and came upon the one ring from Gollum. You saw part of that in the FotR prelude.

Iirima
Helpful, but not necessary.

Again, it's helpful, but not necessary. big grin
